There’s no place on earth quite like Sri Lanka. This beautiful island off the coast of India is home to not only lush rain forests teaming with elephants, buffalos and even turtles. It is a land of temples, tea fields, spices, cuisine and some of the world’s kindest and most welcoming people. Unfortunately it has also been a land of tumult and hardship.
Sri Lanka is Peter’s ancestral home and the place that first fostered his love of cooking. As a young boy peering over the stove while his grandmother mixed a myriad of spices to create the perfect curry Peter’s love of Sri Lanka continues to shine through his cooking to this day.
In 2011 SBS Food and The Precinct created ‘My Sri Lanka with Peter Kuruvita‘, a revolutionary cooking series taking foodies into the heart, and kitchens, of Sri Lanka.
Peter’s acclaimed series won a Logie award that year and has put Sri Lanka on the menu as a travel destination for food lovers around the world.

February 2018 – My Sri Lanka with World Expeditions
World Expeditions are the adventure and culinary travel specialists. On their acclaimed tour with Peter Kuruvita you’ll experience a very special Sri Lanka.
“From street food and egg hoppers to tea inspired dinners at some of Sri Lanka’s finest dining establishments, Peter will take you behind the scenes to meet the people and discover the spices and ingredients that first ignited his passion for food and which make up Sri Lanka’s melting pot.
From the palm fringed west coast, we travel to the ancient capital Anuradhapura to visit its world heritage listed ruin sites. We continue to the rock fortress of Sigiriya before heading to the hill town of Kandy with its splendid botanical gardens and lush tea plantations.
You’ll then spend a night in the luxurious Lighthouse Hotel in Galle designed by the late Geoffrey Bawa and in the Uda Walawe National Park where you’ll stay in luxury mobile tents and enjoy a sumptuous feast under the stars. Along the way we will try our hand at making egg hoppers and kottu roti as well as cooking our curry lunch in clay pots over an open fire.
This is a food safari like no other. We hope you can join us!”
